Hae-eun Gotaek was the ancestral home of our founder’s in-laws — a wealthy family remembered for their deep generosity. For generations, they shared food and resources with villagers, regardless of status. During the 1894 Donghak Peasant Movement, when many landlords were targeted in violent uprisings, their home was spared — a powerful testament to the kindness they had sown.
This legacy of warmth and virtue lives on at Gwanghwamun Mijin,
in every bowl we serve.

A cherished everyday staple across generations since 1954, our Gwanghwamun outlet draws long queues daily for delicately chewy buckwheat noodles, served in a clear, flavourful broth crafted from premium dried seafood, fresh vegetables, and 14 natural ingredients for a clean yet deeply savoury taste, mixed bibim-style, or finished with nutty perilla oil and hand-ground sesame powder.
